What we do

TalentED connects youth aged 18–24 who have a high school diploma with real industry experience offered by local businesses and non-profit organizations across the Greater Calgary area. Through short-term paid and unpaid opportunities, youth can build job-ready skills, gain hands-on experience in workplace settings, and take the first step toward their careers. No experience, training, or skills needed. And while youth get the big break they need, employers get access to talent that contribute fresh ideas and grow the future workforce.

FAQ

How can I get started?

Connect with our employer engagement team through a free workshop or 1:1 consultation.

What’s work-based learning?

Work-based learning (WBL) is any type of learning that occurs in a real work environment. It helps youth develop the skills needed to obtain and keep jobs and promotes professional development. Projects and placements are examples of WBL and can be paid or unpaid.

How long does a placement last?

Placement timelines range depending on the project or role. We’re open to discussing placement length based on your current needs to see what fits best.

Are you a program only for businesses?

No. An employer is any for-profit (e.g., SME, startup) or non-profit looking to offer a placement or project opportunity to youth.”
